Global Water Center has taken an important step in ensuring the long-term sustainability of solar-powered water systems (SPWS) with the release of our new operations and maintenance guide. This comprehensive and user-friendly resource bridges a critical gap in maintaining SPWS, which are essential in providing safe water access to underserved communities worldwide.

Through collaboration with subject matter experts, including WASH engineers, energy specialists, and system operators, this guide offers practical tools, checklists, and best practices. It equips service providers and operators to keep water systems running efficiently, ultimately prolonging their lifespan and preventing costly repairs.

With sections on financial planning, safety protocols, and both routine and preventive maintenance tasks, the guide supports the capacity development of system operators. By formalizing their roles, it ensures these life-saving systems deliver safe, reliable water for years to come.

We are thrilled to share this resource with the global water community and look forward to seeing how it equips water professionals with the skills needed to sustain safe water systems worldwide.
