Global Water Center (GWC) has been recognized as an UN-Water Partner, joining a select group of NGOs, professional unions, and academic institutions working to advance universal access to safe water and sanitation.

UN-Water is part of the United Nations and brings partners together to align efforts, share knowledge, and accelerate progress on global water challenges. Fewer than 50 organizations worldwide hold this partner designation.

“We are grateful to be part of this vibrant community working to make safe water accessible to everyone. This recognition reflects the meaningful relationships we’ve built with communities, leaders, and organizations around the world. It’s a privilege to serve alongside so many who share this mission,” said Thomas Johnston, CEO of GWC.

UN-Water Partners are focused on Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6): Universal access to safe water and sanitation. Achieving SDG 6 is critical for health, education, and economic opportunity, as reliable water services are the foundation for thriving communities.

As an UN-Water Partner, GWC will contribute its expertise, engage in collaborative initiatives, and participate in global efforts to strengthen water access. Since 2021, GWC has trained more than 5,000 water professionals across 157 countries, providing hands-on skills, technical guidance, and ongoing support to help communities maintain sustainable, reliable water systems. This recognition provides a platform for GWC to extend its learning and support across the global water sector.

GWC looks forward to continuing this work alongside all those dedicated to safe water for all, strengthening collaborative partnerships and advancing shared solutions that create lasting impact in communities worldwide.
