GWC recently hosted a virtual discussion exploring current funding trends, challenges, and opportunities across the WASH sector.Â
The conversation featured staff perspectives from The Coca-Cola Company, the World Bank, GWC, Water Mission, and The Signatry. Together, the speakers explored how organizations can adapt as traditional funding sources shift and expectations for measurable impact continue to grow.Â
A common theme emerged throughout the discussion: funders are increasingly focused on sustainability, long-term results, and clear evidence of impact. As government funding changes, organizations are being challenged to demonstrate not only what they accomplish today, but how those results will endure over time.Â
Despite these challenges, the conversation was marked by optimism. Speakers highlighted emerging opportunities through impact investing, donor-advised funds, corporate partnerships, and growing philanthropic generosity.Â
Perhaps the most valuable outcome was the opportunity for honest dialogue among peers. Participants shared insights, asked questions, and explored how greater collaboration can help the sector navigate a changing environment.Â
For GWC, the discussion underscored the value of creating spaces where water sector leaders can learn from one another, exchange ideas, and build new partnerships. As the sector continues to evolve, we look forward to hosting more conversations that bring people together around shared challenges and opportunities, strengthening our collective ability to advance sustainable water solutions.
