Katrina Straker

Senior Director of External Relationship

Katrina Straker is thrilled to be joining Global Water Center to lead external engagement.

A New Jersey native who has called the Baltimore area home for many years, Katrina began her career working with newly arrived refugees, first in community outreach and then in program design and delivery. Somewhere along the way, she discovered that she really loved the work of connecting people to a mission and helping organizations find the resources and support they need to do more of what they do well. That eventually led her into fundraising, communications, and organizational leadership.

Since then, Katrina has worked with Global Refuge, formerly Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service; Girl Scouts of Central Maryland; International Orthodox Christian Charities; and, most recently, Splash International, where she led global fundraising, business development, marketing, and communications. Her years at Splash also pulled her deeply into the water and sanitation sector, and she is especially excited to continue that work at GWC, particularly around the bigger question of how we build the people, capacity, and systems needed to keep safe water flowing for the long term.

Outside of work, Katrina lives in the Baltimore area with her husband, Louis, and their two sons, Julian and Adrian. She is an avid hiker, amateur cook, enthusiastic traveler, accomplished napper, and occasional poet.
