At GWC we believe collaboration involves both sharing knowledge and helping people grow. HydroLOGICA demonstrated that spirit of collaboration by welcoming Heidi Fuller, our Director of Training, to learn directly from their drilling team in Nicaragua.

During her time with the HydroLOGICA team, Heidi participated in hands-on learning that included equipment orientation, mud and air drilling demonstrations, and troubleshooting challenges such as loss of circulation. She observed how supervisors play a vital role before, during, and after drilling. That involves evaluating contracts, managing relationships between multiple stakeholders, observing and tracking the entire drilling process, and making informed decisions along the way.

Heidi will use what she learned and experienced to support the development of borehole drilling courses, ensuring they are built on a foundation of technical excellence.

The first course we’re developing focuses on preparing drilling supervisors to ensure that borehole drilling meets contractual standards, improves success rates, and leads to higher water yields. This online course will be available for water professionals around the globe in 2026. The second course, to be developed in 2026, will focus on contract development and management.

During the trip, Heidi spent time with Michael Montgomery, founder of HydroLOGICA, Brandon Stone, CEO of HydroLOGICA, and Fadzai Munodawafa, one of our long-time training collaborators from East Africa.

Heidi shared, “Between Michael’s generosity and dedication, Brandon’s leadership and expertise, and Fadzai’s enthusiasm for training, our time together was truly unforgettable. Whether we were in training, eating the most incredible Nicaraguan food, sharing laughs, or diving into meaningful conversations, every moment felt both fun and inspiring. I couldn’t have asked for better people to work with and learn from.”

What a great reminder that collaboration doesn’t just build skills—it builds friendships, too.

We are grateful to our partners at HydroLOGICA for their hospitality, their willingness to share their expertise, and their shared commitment to solving water challenges through training and strong relationships.
