No one can solve the global water crisis alone. That’s why we are grateful for amazing partners like HydroLOGICA.
HydroLOGICA is a global leader in water well drilling, working in Nicaragua and providing training to strengthen technical skills across the drilling industry. Their approach is practical, hands-on, and rooted in deep field experience—meeting drillers where they are and helping them build on what they already do well.
Through this partnership, HydroLOGICA is strengthening drilling training in Tanzania while also sharing their expertise to shape online courses that support water professionals around the world.
Starting with Listening
In June 2025, HydroLOGICA and GWC observed RUWASA drilling operations across multiple locations in Tanzania.
They found that the drillers were highly skilled at constructing wells and adapting to challenging environments. But one critical gap emerged: boreholes were not consistently sealed, leaving groundwater vulnerable to contamination.
So GWC and HydroLOGICA decided to build a training around that one area of high-impact improvement. After months of preparation, the team returned to Tanzania in February 2026 to train 53 RUWASA staff members on how to properly seal boreholes.
From Skepticism to Shared Purpose

Training began by focusing on the water cycle and how groundwater moves, why it needs protection, reinforcing the importance and broader impact of the drillers’ work.
Then came a message that resonated deeply. “We told them that they’re like groundwater doctors,” Brandon said. “You’re opening the earth, and it’s your responsibility to seal it so it doesn’t get infected. You’re protecting water for your entire country.”
Brandon even went around the room, shaking each driller’s hand and calling them “Doctor.” Mutual respect and shared laughter paved the way for a successful, high-impact training.
After a day of classroom learning, the training moved outside where participants learned how to properly seal boreholes using simple, effective methods, while also exploring ways to make their work safer and more efficient.
Just as importantly, the training created space for connection. Drillers—who often work in isolation—had the opportunity to learn from one another and engage with a broader, global network through HydroLOGICA’s experience across countries.
Beyond the Field: Expanding Global Learning

Brandon and other HydroLOGICA team members also served as subject matter experts for GWC’s growing suite of online drilling courses designed to make high-quality training accessible to professionals anywhere in the world.
“These courses have the potential to reach anyone, anywhere,” Brandon shared. “That kind of access will be really powerful.”
By combining field-based experience with scalable learning, the partnership is helping strengthen the drilling workforce far beyond a single country.
Looking Ahead
The work in Tanzania is just the beginning. Together, GWC and HydroLOGICA are exploring opportunities to continue supporting RUWASA, including future trainings on equipment maintenance and additional technical areas that help sustain long-term water access.
At the same time, new courses and microlearning opportunities are on the horizon.
Thank you, HydroLOGICA, for being such a great partner. Together, we can expand access to the knowledge and skills needed to protect water resources worldwide.
